CALA – Performances, Exhibitions and Installations

Monday 16 July

  • from 16:00
    Piazza della Croce

Work in progress
conceived by Davide De Lillis
with the participation of the audience
and the help of willing passers-by

Work in progress is a shared experience: a game in which the spectator is more than an observer. In this game the audience works in a group to create a sculpture and then carries it to a few places around the town of Cori, inviting the community to contribute to the creation of the work.

Instructions for the audience:
• Start on the 16th of July at 16:00 – Piazza della Croce.
• Bring a couple of objects with you. We will use them to create the sculpture.
• We will create the sculpture together, then bring it to Piazza Signina.
• The sculpture will stay there for one day, during which anyone can add pieces to it.

  • at 21:30
    Giardini di Piazza Signina

Superficial
by and with Giuseppe Vincent Giampino

Giuseppe will show the result of the research he conducted during the creative residency at CALA Festival.

The objective of this preliminary study is to explore the movement of a body as a continuous trace in space, attempting to eliminate any act that is representative of the real, creating a place of pure appearance inhabited by a body without will, and constantly producing.

XYX
by and with Moreno Perna

This work leads us from the cliché-image of a woman as a sensual body to that of an androgynous creature. Moreno believes that ‘gender’ cannot be deconstructed, only transcended. This generates a fluidity that goes beyond the division between what is male and what is female in our culture. XYX is a call to everything that is both male and female in the spectator.

Scanner-Camera-Shenaneganeramera
by Daz Disley

A show of black-and-white portrait-photography. Using first-principles photography and a desktop document-scanner, Daz creates super-simple cameras, and then uses them to create portrait photography where time is as much an important part of the end-result as is space and composition. In addition to showing prints, at CALA Festival Daz will be making a new scanner-camera from whatever he finds lying about, so please come to one of the open-sessions on the 20th and 21st of July at 21:00 and have your portrait image made!

Call me
by Lucia Di Pietro

Exhibitions of the materials collected during the one-to-one performances of CALL ME.

Anatomia
by Sofia Bucci

Twelve black and white polaroids. For this series, Sofia re-photographed amateur porn photos, and then “censored” them using hand-embroidery. The original images are transformed by her intervention: new images and new meanings are generated.

InVaso
by Martino Antocchi

Martino Antocchi will exhibit his pottery created using the “mojon” technique – an aboriginal technique common especially in northern Africa – that he learnt during his collaboration with Juan Brito in Lanzarote (Spain).

CORrelAzioni
curated by Ass. cult. Arcadia

Light on the decorated capitals of the cloister of S. Oliva. A close look at the symbolic relationships of the capitals of the cloister of S. Oliva.

Intuition 1
by and with Riccardo Guratti

In his research, Riccardo is inspired by renaissance dance and philosophy and their relationship with alchemy, intuition and imagination. In this work the body is in constant, dynamic equilibrium within itself and the forces around it.
If body, then body among bodies
Symbols/signs are the history that inhabit that body
Body is: action-reaction / dominant-dominated / order-chaos / scientific-esoteric etc. simultaneously

OFFBEATBOOTBEAT
by and with Ingeborg Meier Andersen

An attempt to resist the conventional beat. Shifting and changing the space using the body as material and presence. Reversing the practice of following the music by researching the semitones of beats. . . off beats. Trying to establish a dialogue with the silence of broken beats. Stubbornly moving to reach the place where one is consciously offbeat.
